Balto was sitting still, watching the camp around him as he ate a small mouse for dinner. He was thinking about what was happening, what could happen, and what must happen. the warrior then finished up the small mouse, one of the ones he caught earlier as he gave a stretch, wondering what others were doing in the gang.
The cat then gave a sigh, sitting in the silence.

Silas walked over to Balto. He had rested and eaten at camp- the deputy had insisted. Now, all Silas wanted to do was think. Caele knew I was in danger. Caele sent Comala to save me. Silently, Silas prayed his thanks to Caele.

"Hello Silas, what cha doin'?" He asked silently, to the other cat as he glanced towards him. The strong warrior was thinking, he had been doing a lot lately. He hadn't seen the other warrior around anyways lately, he wondered where he had been. Maybe Silas would tell him, or maybe he wouldn't. The large cat however waited for wahtever reply he would get.

Silas looked up abruptly. He had almost forgotten the other warrior. "Just thinking, Balto," he said calmly, staring out over the tunnel. "And you?"

"Th' same, just thinkin'. It has been oddly quiet lately, and there seems to be enough prey." The strong cat said, "It leaves time to think."
"Anyways there's no need to be in a hurry to get things done." Balto finished, adding that in. Eyes watching the other cat, his ears twitched, he thought he heard something for a second.

Silas flicked his ears in suprise- had the prey gone up in the two days he had been gone? "Yes. I was worried about that shortage, but it seems to have gotten better, hasn't it?" he said in his standard flat voice. Silas looked around. "The camp seems empty, but with the return of the prey, that will change." Caele saves. Caele blesses.

"Yes, things do seem to have improved for the time bein', but things often get betta before becomin' worse." He pointed out, though it was true, that is how things seem to work a lot. "So, what did you do why you were away anyways?"

Silas ducked his head. "Well... you know, the prey seemed bad, and there were rumors of a rabbit colony under in the South Tunnel." Silas had never heard of rabbits before- they lived in lush forest, not in damp, underground tunnels. "I wanted to see if it was true." At this point, Silas smiled. "And it was. I got some of them, but left others to repopulate."

"That's good, most of the prey around here is mice, rats, or pigeon." It was true those were city animals for you, rabbits, vole, and so on were harder to find. The large cat sighed, "So how does rabbit taste?"

Silas grinned. "Delicious." He had only had one, but the taste was still in his mouth. But you take no more. You were born to serve your clan, the Caele. "I believe there are still some left."

"I already ate today." He said, "Maybe some of the apprentices will enjoy the taste of rabbit, it is rather rare." The cat chuckled, looking towards to where the apprentices ussually wore, but he saw none.

Silas felt his own gaze travel over to the aprentices, and felt a pang when he saw them. Caele had not blessed the Cinis with apprentices this year. But Caele has a plan. Always, always has a plan. "Yes, I'm sure they will," Silas thought. "The few that there are." Silas suprised himself- did he detect a hint of venom?

"Hopefully we'll have more apprentices next year as well. All we can do is try and hope for the better." He said honestly, strecthing after he got up. The cat then sat again, feeling better after the stretch.

Silas nodded. "Of course. The Cinis have pulled through harder times." Vaguely, Silas recalled the stories elders had told him, about floods, famines, and plagues, and how the Cinis had miraculously pulled through each and every one of them.
